Executive Bio
Leading our practice is Tom Varco. Before entering the field of executive search Tom spent 12 years in the property/casualty insurance industry in both the Chicago and Atlanta markets. He held managerial and individual contributor roles for four different national carriers and was responsible for hiring and performance management in several of his positions. His positions included business segment manager, territory manager, senior casualty underwriter and multi-line underwriter. Tom continuously sharpened his managerial and technical skills by attending numerous leadership and training seminars. He also attained the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation, passed five Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) examinations and completed two Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) examinations.
Tom transitioned from the insurance industry into the field of executive search in 2000 by joining the startup office of a nationally franchised search firm that specialized in insurance recruiting. Tom helped get the office off the ground and achieved the recruiting industry Pacesetter award his first year in the business. He has enjoyed continued success in his career as an insurance recruiter and founded The Varco Group in 2004. Tom ensures that every search project we work on demonstrates a commitment to exemplary service, proactive communication and finding the best long term match for both the candidate and client company.
